Your What and Your Why
The place for you to find the first building block for your online business is within yourself.
Actually, there are 2 building blocks you need before you start trying to build your business.

Your Why
The first building block is your why. In case you don’t know what your why is, it is something you want or maybe feel like you have to do it or you will never be satisfied. Let me explain that before we go any further, because without your why you will most likely never make it. Being your own boss and running your own business takes passion, and that passion comes from your why.
What do you dream of doing? What do you wake up thinking about in the morning and maybe even go to bed thinking about at night?
It may be buying a motorhome and traveling all around the country after you retire. It may be having the time and money to take your children and grandchildren with you in that motorhome. It may be setting up a college fund for your grandkids. You may like to support your local church or world missionaries. Whatever it is you have a real passion to do is your why.

A friend of mine learned of a project to drill water wells in third-world countries to bring clean drinking water to a lot of people. He caught the vision, and that vision became his why. He built an entire online business that donated most of the profits to that vision. I have no idea how many wells he has drilled by now, but what I do know is this. That vision became his why and it gave him what he needed to keep going instead of giving up when things got tough. His business even allowed him to travel to some of the places and actually be a part of physically drilling some of those wells.

So, what is your why? Whatever it is, that you are passionate about is the reason you have for starting and building your online business. It will be the thing you think of each time you get discouraged or tired. It will be the thing that will motivate you, that will keep you moving forward when others stop to rest or even quit. People who do not have a why are very seldom, if ever really successful.

What is your why? If you don’t know or aren’t sure get that settled in your mind before you go any further.
I know that may sound basic to most seniors because you are saying I already had a why. It is what I worked for all those years in Corporate America but I have nothing to show for it. That is why we are here. We want you to stir up your why again. Get it out from under those ashes of social security and retirement income not being enough to accomplish your dream and let us teach you how to get there from here.
Your What
So, now that you know you need to define your why, let’s get to the next part of this equation.
As seniors, we have a lot of life experience as well as corporate work world experience locked inside our heads. That means there is a lot of information in our memory banks that will help other people, and information that people will gladly pay for each month.
What most of us, as seniors, do not realize is there is a market for most, if not all, of that experience. All we have to do is bring it out of our memory banks and put it out in public.
Keeping that in mind, let’s dig into all that information you have stored between your ears so you can find something that can be used as your first product or step to becoming an online entrepreneur.
Your first assignment may require some help from someone you are willing to receive advice from. I say willing to receive advice from because most of the people in our generation do not see any value in what they know, at least not any income generating value. If you will sit and talk to someone you can receive advice from and share your corporate world experiences as well as your life experiences and passions with, they will hear things that have real-world value to them. You will just have to trust their opinions and not your own thoughts, doubts, and fears in order to get started.
I believe the biggest problem most of us face is fear, and I believe I may have been introduced to some information today as I was putting all of this down in a way that I could make it available to you that may be of help in that area. You see, most of us, our generation, were taught we needed to go to school, get a job, work hard for someone else, take care of our families, and build a retirement so we could enjoy our golden years.
We were not taught to think outside the box and look for a better way. We were not taught, by anyone, how to think like entrepreneurs. We were taught to trade our time for a paycheck, and now that no one in Corporate America wants our time, we have no idea how to earn an income, even a small income, to help make sure there is money left over at the end of the month instead of month being left over at the end of the money.
Everything we have been taught since childhood is what keeps us from having the right mindset. We need to change that mindset, and that is one of the things we want to help you do, starting with the next lesson.
Let’s take a quick look at today’s lesson.
You need to find or redefine your why. Maybe you have had a why in the past and you need to tweak it a little, or maybe you need a new why. Either way, you need to make sure you have a clear vision of what your why is.
You need to take a look inside your memory banks and find the information you can use to launch your online business.
You need to get ready to have your past way of thinking changed in the next few lessons.
